In 1998 Mack Hirshberg began teaching tumbling classes for fun where his son took gymnastics. His classes became so popular that he created his first cheer team that same year.
In 1999 Janet Hirshberg joined her husband as attendance kept growing and together they added a second team.
In 2000 they added their first coed team. By their third year, they started winning locally and their coed team became a local icon.
By 2002 they had outgrown the gymnastics facility and opened Utah’s first Independent Cheer Gym.
By 2003 Mac’s Cheer had begun to win national titles.
From 2003 through 2006 Mac’s Cheer gained national recognition for both their soloists as well as both cheer and dance teams.
In 2007 Mac’s Cheer’s Small Sr. Level 5 team received their first bid to Worlds. Mack Hirshberg was named Utah’s USASF State Director.
In 2008 Mac’s Cheer’s Small Sr. Level 5 team received their second bid to Worlds and their first national title in this division.
In 2009 Mac’s Cheer’s Jr. and Sr. Level 5 teams received bids to Worlds. Mac’s Jr. Level 5 won its first national title and Mac’s Sr. Small Level 5 team finished in the top 20 at Worlds.
In 2010 Mac’s Cheer levels 1-4 teams earn several national titles; Mac’s Jr level 5 continue to collect more national titles; and Mac’s Sr. Small level 5 continue their climb up the latter at Worlds finishing 18th out of the 60 teams in their division. Mack is nominated and elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the USASF and is asked to be on the PAC (Parents Action Committee).
